Pharmacists hold scientific conference

With the theme, ‘Innovative disruptions in pharmacy: Road map for hospital and administrative pharmacy practice in Nigeria’, the Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria, said on Thursday it had concluded plans for its 21st annual National Scientific Conference scheduled to commence on Sunday in Sokoto.

According to a statement by the National Chairman of the association, Dr Kingsley Amibor, the conference will make far-reaching recommendations aimed at addressing current issues in the country.

He said, “The theme of the conference was carefully chosen as a result of the current disruptions in the health-care sector in Nigeria and the compelling need for hospital and administrative pharmacists to be adequately empowered, equipped and positioned for innovative disruptions in line with the reality of the moment.

“At the end of the conference, we will come up with recommendations, which if adopted and implemented, will impact positively on the health sector in the country. This is in line with one of the cardinal objectives of our association.”

This year’s conference is holding in Sokoto with neighbouring Zamfara and Kebbi states as co-hosts.”

Amibor stated that the conference, which would hold at the International Conference Centre and Giginya Hotel, would feature campaign against drug abuse, lectures on various sub themes, abstract presentation, unveiling of the AHAPN directory, among others.

“Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State is expected to grace the occasion as special guest of honour, with Prof. N. Wannang as keynote speaker,” he said.
